Can Bowen therapy help sport injuries and/or increase the sporting performance?

by | May 3, 2017

In 1950′ Tom Bowen discovered a manual technique to address sport injuries. Now thousands of Bowen practitioners all over the world help sport’s people “Stay in the game”, do the sport that they love and get the results that they dream.

I remember Jo’s case, who fortunately had enough time to get the Bowen treatment.

“Manchester 10K (10 Km) is looming, I must be mad. 50 years old and only been running for 6 months and never raced before” says Jo who is preparing for her first race.

She is been having Bowen for maintaining a good posture and looking for general well being. But incidents can happen:

Well 7 days before the big day I pulled a muscle in my hip which was quite painful and called Camelia to see if she could help and what a result! 2 days before the race Camelia performed a Bowen sportive procedure on the injury. Initially I just wanted to complete the race but I was astounded by the results… On the day, not only did I complete the race in total comfort from the injury, but I significantly smashed my personal best time!! I cannot thank Camelia and the magic of Bowen enough and I’m now looking forward to my next race. Thank You
Jo

There are a range of treatments to help sport injuries such as physiotherapy, sports massage… Sometimes people don’t respond to the massage but they may respond to the Bowen technique.

After discovering the Bowen technique, Claire’s knee “repaired” and was able to successfully complete the London marathon, pain free during and afterwards the race.

I suffered with a knee injury after completing the Edinburgh marathon 2 years ago. The pain after the marathon was intense and the injury kept coming back whenever I tried to run long distances. Two years later I got a ballot place for the London Marathon and I started to build up the mileage. The pain in my knee was constant when I ran and it even hurt when I just crossed my legs when sat! On one of my longer runs I had to stop and get a lift home, the pain was too much. I love running and I knew there had to be a solution out there.

A friend and his wife mentioned that they had both received Bowen therapy for a shoulder problem and a wrist problem that traditional physiotherapy hadn’t been successful on and they had both had brilliant results.

I researched and thought it was worth trying. I read Camelia’s reviews and gave her a call. I didn’t really know what to expect on my first session but Camelia explained what Bowen was about and how it worked. I left that first session feeling extremely relaxed but doubting if it would work. I’m glad I stuck with it! I looked forward to each session and left feeling so much more relaxed.
My knee pain diminished significantly after the first couple of sessions and my last four runs before the marathon were pain free. Last weekend, I completed the London marathon (2015), all 26.2 miles of it, with absolutely no knee pain during or after! Amazing results to say the knee injury had been a problem for nearly 2 years!

I always recommend my clients to have a Bowen session 2 days before the competition. My Bowen instructor told us that having Bowen 2 days prior a competition may help them to get better results and so far he is right.

I would love to help you too, to get back to your sporting activity.

Just give me a call on 0753 028 4930 / 0161 285 7727 to discuss what Bowen therapy may do for you.
